Bianca Gonzalez, recruitment manager
Bianca joined the national team in December of 2013, bringing with her more than six years of experience in recruitment and a strong passion for education reform. Previously she served as an undergraduate admission counselor working with traditional-aged incoming students at Cardinal Stritch University.
Bianca’s college experience truly opened many doors of opportunity and reinforced the importance of a quality education; however, it would not have been possible without the help of the school choice program, which Bianca participated in from 1st through 12th grade.
Bianca’s professional background coupled with her experience as a former student from an urban education setting led to her success in recruiting teachers and administrators for the schools Open Sky Education supports. Bianca has earned a master of arts degree in adult education at Alverno College.
Paula Ortega-Ortiz, recruitment associate
Paula attended Alverno College where she received her undergraduate degree in psychology. After graduation, Paula entered the field of social work at La Causa Social Services as a crisis stabilization counselor where she worked primarily with adolescents who have been diagnosed with behavioral/emotional disorders through the greater Milwaukee area.
During her experience working in the human services field, she discovered that a strong educational setting is crucial to child development. Upon this discovery, she found her underlying passion for education reform. As a Latino growing up on Milwaukee’s south side, Paula has an awareness of the obstacles that minority children face within the community, and wishes to make a difference for them.
